EZULWINI – It was a ladies day during the first edition of the Zithande boot camp tour held yesterday at the Swaziland Water Services Corporation headquarters in Ezulwini.

The camp was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Paul Dlamini who joined the over 80 people in attendance, hugely dominated by women. The three-hour boot camp was energy sapping but fun for the participants as always. Zithande Athletics Club Manager Nsizwa Thwala said they were happy with the response and this shows that people do want to train but they just need the platform. “It is so interesting to see the ladies coming all out to work out. Having such an attendance in our first edition of the tours gave us encouragement to continue. We believe in the next two weeks we will be in Pigg’s Peak,” he said.

Those in attendance were also taken through by Physiotherapist Lungile Mkhabela whose focus was on how to deal with injuries during or after training. She said it was important to warm up, stretch and rest especially after physical training. He said there were five important pillars after training. “We use the phrase price as to how to take care of your body to avoid injuries and heal those injuries. The P stands for protection while the R is for resting. Then, the I stands for icing with the C meaning compress and the E denoting elevator. Your body needs to rest and it is important to place an ice on that injured body part instead of hot water,” she said.
