ZWELITHINI SHINES IN 64TH PARKRUN

MBABANE – After 13 attempts, athlete Zwelithini Mdzebele has finally raced to the top.

Despite not managing to beat his personal best time, Mdzebele was the overall winner of the 64th edition of the Mbabane Parkrun on Saturday. He finished the weekly 5km run in a time of 16:03 minutes. His personal best still stands at 15:31 minutes which he recorded on May 26 this year. The winner on that day was Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force’s Nkululeko Gama, who clocked 15:24 minutes and was followed by Swazi Slojos’ Siyabonga Sihlongonyane on 15:26 minutes and Mdzebele was third.

In the ladies category, Gugu Mthembu reclaimed her top spot after losing it to Simphiwe Gama last week. She finished the race in 22:10 minutes while Gama came second in 23:43 minutes. There were 104 runners/joggers who participated in the race that was held Mbabane Club yesterday.
