MBABANE – The Eswatini 50/50 Fitness Challenge does not only provide emaSwati with an opportunity to get fit and healthy, but to learn new exercises as well.

Peaceful Warrior Foundation, a brainchild of Prince Bandzile, is behind the unique initiative, which has an ultimate goal of getting Eswatini to be among the top 10 healthiest nations in the world. The campaign, which got underway on July 19, will run until September 6 (Independence Day). It is in line with the country’s 50/50 celebrations. To take part in the initiative, one has to download the Eswatinifc Application on Google App Store and then register. On registration, a person will be introduced to various exercises. As each person taking part in the challenge is required to train at least 50 minutes each day, there are options to share the activities carried out on each day on the ‘App’ by clicking the + (add) button.

The completed exercises will be displayed on the Activity Board, which is accessed on clicking the options button. Meanwhile, there are video demonstrations on the ‘App’ for the various exercises that include single leg push-up, airplane and Shoulder Bridge, among others.
There are rewards for consistency and on the last day of the challenge, there will be a 50km ultra-marathon. Peaceful Warrior Foundation Vice Chairman William Kelly said the response was positive so far and there were lined-up regional activations from this weekend. The first stop will be at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in Nhlangano on Sunday from 2pm. Mbabane, in Hhohho, will be the next town to host the fitness enthusiasts.  People can also get other details on the programme on the Eswatini Fitness Challenge Facebook page.
