MHLAMBANYATSI – Fans will be treated to a mini derby in the Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup Under-20 finals when Mbabane Swallows face rivals, Mbabane Highlanders.

Both teams reached the finals after penalty shoot-outs in the semi-finals played yesterday at Mhlambanyatsi Sports Ground. Swallows beat Young Buffaloes 2-1 after a goalless draw during normal time and Mbabane Highlanders beat Manzini Wanderers 5-4 after penalties, following a 1-all draw during regulation time. Swallows are the defending champions having won 2-1 against Highlanders last season in the finals. The winner between the two sides will take home a cheque of E48 000 while the runners-up will pocket E20 000.
First to take centre stage was Swallows and Buffaloes. The match started on a high tempo and both teams were attacking but missing the chances that came their way. Swallows were left frustrated in the 30th minutes when what they believed a goal was denied by the referee.
The game went for the breather with both teams goalless.

In the second half Swallows were more strong as they attacked now and again only for the trio of Sunday Ngwenya, Mfanzile Mdluli and Sekelo Gumbi failing to beat Young Buffaloes goalkeeper Mlungisi Nxumalo. The game then went straight for the penalties, where Mbabane Swallows goalkeeper Qiniso Nyawo emerged as a hero as he saved two penalties from Young Buffaloes Meshack Lushaba and Siyabonga Mavuso while Msimisi Mtshali and Siphesihle Nsimbini missed the target and Senzo Nxumalo was the only player to score.

Missed

Swallows found the back of the net through Mthunzi Dlamini and Njabulo Mnisi while Ncwala Dlamini, Mfanasibili Shabalala and Kuthula Fakudze all missed. Meanwhile, Highlanders were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes before full time and it was converted by Sibonelo Motsa. Two minutes later Wanderers were also handed a penalty and Mlungisi Shabangu took it and equalised for the ‘Weslians. The game then went for the penalty shoot-outs where Highlanders converted four with Wanders only scoring two.
