LOBAMBA – Mbabane Swallows coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati is happy that young midfielder Richard McCreesh is repaying his faith in him.

The reputable gaffer said the general feeling in the team was that the player should be loaned to another team at one point, but he insisted on keeping him. Reacting to the player’s performance in the Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup at Somhlolo National Stadium yesterday, Vilakati said the player had matured in his play, urging him to keep his feet on the ground.

“He (McCreesh) must forget about negative things outside the field of play. He is coming up okay despite the pressure, so he has to keep pushing. At one point, I wanted him to play the role of Felix,” said Vilakati.

Reacting to the 2-1 win over rivals Mbabane Highlanders in the final, Vilakati felt his team had to grind the result in a ‘tense derby.’
“It was not a good final due to the tension and a majority of the players were not used to play in this occasion.

“Highlanders have a good team. We almost shot ourselves in the foot due to poor game management,” he noted.

Vilakati appealed to the side’s loyalists to be patient with them, as it was a new era, assuring that they were still to unleash more stars. He was impressed by his recruits Xolani ‘Papi’ Sikhondze, Siboniso Ndzabandzaba and Aladeon Kola, among others.

“We always go for quality and the players we sign add value,” highlighted Vilakati.
The seasoned coached further thanked all the supporters for coming in numbers for yesterday’s festivities.
