MANZINI – Manzini Sundowns might not be winning trophies but they are rolling in the cash on the transfer market.

Just a day after making a cool E500 000 on the transfer of striker Justice Figareido, who has signed with South Africa’s Maritzburg United, ‘Basop IKappa Kappa’ have invoked a clause of 40 per cent on-sale agreement they have with Mbabane Swallows on talented midfielder, Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze.

Sikhondze, who moved to South Africa’s ABSA Premiership side, Polokwane on a E450 000 transfer fee last month, was still contracted to Sundowns and part of the agreement was that should he move from Swallows, a 40 per cent share of the transfer fee would be given to Sundowns.

The Times Sports Desk has reliably gathered that Sundowns, according to the agreement co-signed by the late Swallows boss Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze and Sundowns Chairman Mark Carmichael, were supposed to be part of the negotiations for the move to SA Polokwane City.

“Further, the agreement states categorically clear that if Sundowns negotiated a move for the player they would receive 50 per cent of the transfer fee. If Swallows clinched a deal for the player on their own accord, then Sundowns will get 40 per cent of the transfer fee,” part of the agreement reads.
An informed source told the Times Sports Desk that Sundowns have already written to the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) pleading for their intervention on the matter.

“The FA has advised Sundowns to approach Swallows directly on the matter as these were issues between the two teams,” our source added.
EFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu did confirm the matter when called last night.

“We did receive a correspondence from Sundowns, asking us to intervene on the Pupu transfer fee percentage issue and we advised them to approach Swallows directly. If there is a deadlock only then can we intervene. We also communicated the same to Swallows,” Mngomezulu said.

Sundowns Chairman Mark Carmichael could only confirm the matter and that his team had approached the FA.
“It’s there in black and white.

That’s all I can say on this matter,” Carmichael said briefly.
Mbabane Swallows General Manager, Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane also confirmed receiving a correspondence from Sundowns but said the team’s lawyers were handling the issue.

“I can’t say much on that issue, it is with our lawyers,” he said briefly.
The player when reached for comment, briefly asked not to say anything on the matter.
