MBABANE – Even a meeting with the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) on Wednesday afternoon did not help matters in as far as the ownership of Matsapha United Football Club is concerned.

Is it Sipho Shongwe or Victor Malambe’s team?
In 2016, when the two collaborated and changed RSSC United to Matsapha United, they were both listed as directors but the following year, some impeccable sources at the club alleged Malambe was no longer a director, which was also reflected in court papers submitted by the State when it opposed Shongwe’s bail application early this year.

“Even in the meeting with the PLE, it came up again that the team was registered as a company trading as Matsapha United Investments (Pty) Ltd. Its director, according to a document they claimed the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) also has, shows Sipho Shongwe as its director and two of his children and there’s no mention of Malambe, who was RSSC United Chairman when they changed to Matsapha,” alleged the source within the PLE.

The source said the ownership matter was left unresolved but what was vital for the organisation was to know whether the contacts in its possession were still correct or not. The PLE COO Pat Vilakati was sought for comment.
