PEACEMAKERS BACK IN PREMIER LEAGUE!
MBABANE – Almost forgotten former Premier League side Mhlume Peacemakers are back to ‘mingle with the big boys.’
After all has been said and done, Matsapha United’s premier league status has been given to the sugar-belt outfit, who shot to fame in the 1980s and were champions in top flight football in 1981.
handover
Matsapha United lawyer Zakhele Dlamini, in a press conference at The George Hotel in Manzini yesterday, announced the handover of the status to Peacemakers, who are chaired by a consortium led by former player Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo.
Peacemakers, who were promoted to the Lubombo Super League, which is the country’s football third-tier, will play on the big stage under the Matsapha banner in the 2018/19 campaign until a name change in the next Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) general assembly.
Dlamini, who was flanked by a delegation from Mhlume as well as Matsapha General Manager Sifiso Shongwe during the press briefing, said he was making the announcement of behalf of team director Sipho Shongwe.
