ESWATINI LOSE TO HONDURAS

MBABANE – The country’s Chess National Team has once again been defeated.


This time they lost 0.5-3.5   to Honduras. Tournament Director, William Siame is adamant that there is still a glimmer of hope for team Eswatini. “After losing to Wales on Tuesday, the team gathered momentum against Honduras and got better results. They, however, lost again but this time around with better results. The game finished at 1.5-2.5 in favour of Honduras,” said Siame.


He said the elusive victory for Eswatini came from Smilo Hlophe, who beat Milian Escobar 0-1 and the in-form lad Sikhanyiso continues with his
sensation performance by snatching yet another stalemate against a highly rated player Medina Viena of Wales.


The director also highlighted that Vuyo Nxumalo and Sobhi Mzyako lost their games in a brutal way. Eswatini ladies section‘s next fixture in against East African giants Ethiopia. “We are still waiting for a victory from the ladies side, we believe now is the time for them to shine while the gents takes on Senegal next,” he said.
