UEDF’S NKULULEKO PARKRUN’S BEST AGAIN
MBABANE – Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF)’s Nkululeko Gama was once again the winner of Mbabane 5km Parkrun.
The athlete was the winner of the 75th and 76th editions as he is proving dominant in the weekly timed 5km run held at the Mbabane Club every Saturday from 8am.
In yesterday’s run, Gama had joined other runners who participated despite having not registered for the 5km run.
The athlete recorded 0:15:57 minutes which meant he failed to break his 5km record as his best time for this distance is 0:14:59 minutes.
Gama’s colleague in UEDF, Sikhumbuzo Sihlongonyane, was his runner-up but was untimed as he had not registered.
There was good attendance yesterday as more than 70 people participated.
All sexes and age groups were represented and endured the 5km run under the scorching weather conditions.
Males of different age groups dominated as there were no female runners in the top 19.

“My body is struggling to adjust under the hot sunny weather conditions which is why I could not maintain my 5km best time record today (yesterday),” he said.
The UEDF runner said for yesterday’s edition, he prepared all week long by doing road runs to enhance his endurance.
“I would practise for 45 minutes on a daily basis,” he said
He also expressed his gratitude towards parkrun organisers, Sebei and DrinkWater for making the event possible.
The runner then urged organisers of the event to avail end-of-year incentives for best performers for motivation.
