GOLDEN GIRL, CARLOTA EYES OLYMPIC GAMES

MBABANE – She rules the Southern African region when it comes to Taekwondo.


That is Carlota Muvane, who was the only lady to bring home a gold medal from the Confederation of Southern Africa Taekwondo (COSATA) Championships held in Gaborone, Botswana on Saturday. Muvane competes in the -+67 kg.


The 21-year-old said she would not rest upon return from Botswana as she is now preparing for the Korean Ambassador Cup billed for Pretoria next weekend.
Times: How are you feeling about your performance in Botswana?


Carlota: I’m’ so proud of my performance. I was at my best as I did not commit any fouls in all my matches and I was able to manage them well. I went there to win the gold and I brought it home successfully.


Times: How was the competition?
Carlota: In the face of the pressure, I kept calm and collected since my opponents in the finals enjoyed home advantage. I had so much fun and I am happy to be crowned the SADC champion.
Times: Will you be able to continue with the good performance in upcoming tournaments?


Carlota: I have to keep on working hard as there are a lot of big tournaments ahead. Among these are the World Championships billed for Manchester, England and is a real test for me if I am ready to conquer the world. Also in the pipeline is the Korean Ambassador Cup in South Africa.
Times: What are your future targets and goals?


Carlota: I aspire to one day unite the country in victory with the first ever Olympic medal and my focus is on the Tokyo 2020 and 2024 Paris Olympics Games.
