SIKEBHE LEADS COMMITTEE TO OUST DIRECTORS

MANZINI – Former Manzini Wanderers Director Sikebhe Dlamini, has returned to lead a five-member committee to relieve the team’s current directors from their duties.


Dlamini, who was once the team’s sole director, had been mandated by the team’s supporters to assist relieve the current directors from their duties.
At a supporters meeting on Wednesday at the team’s offices in Manzini, supporters decided to form the committee that will facilitate the removal of the directors through the use of the team’s constitution.


The incumbent directors of the team are Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini and Peter Mathaba.
The National Supporters Committee (NSC) Chairman, Majay’vane Dlamini, is among the five-member committee.

Asked to clarify his role on removal of the current directors of the team, the former director declared that he was just there to help technically.
“I am not there but I am there, what I mean is just that I will be the person to provide support as I have   the knowhow of such things in case they (committee) encountered strong opposition,” he said.


Sikebhe added that he would assist enlighten the committee on the powers given by the team’s constitution to remove the current directors from power.
The constitution is said to grant supporters the power to remove the directors in the event they presented someone with more finances to run the team.
The former director told the meeting that there were too many problems affecting the team which were not really addressed by the current management.


These include the recent string of losses the club has suffered in the MTN Premier League under the mentorship of head coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe.
Sikebhe said while in office, they had many financial challenges with the then players but would do everything to salvage the situation.


The ex-director said they would dig deep into their coffers to ensure the team won games with the little sponsorship they currently enjoyed.
He suggested during the meeting that an individual who was incapable of running the team be removed from office despite what they had done for the club in the past.

“Those in office must tell us what they have to run the club. We will not accept excuses that they once did something as we all have done something for the team in the past. If we have the interest of Wanderers at heart, then we should allow those with the financial muscle do the job,” he said.
He insisted that usage of the team’s constitution to relieve the current directors from this position be employed.


The NSC chairman told the meeting that an investor who wanted to run the team financially was already there.
Supporters had given the committee until Wednesday to achieve the goal set during the meeting where they will have to give a report.
Wanderers’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat Mahlalela requested to reserve his comments regarding the supporters meeting and other things related to it.
