MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers will embark on an administrative reshuffle.

According to sources close to the club, the hub giants will part ways with the team’s head coach, Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe. The team had recently been performing poorly under the leadership of Hlophe and failed to produce good results in the recently ended MTN League first round. Currently, the Manzini giants are placed third from the bottom of the elite league log with 12 points after 13 games having been played where they won just three games drew three and lost seven.

“The team management has talked to the coach and thanked him for his services as it was time for him to part ways with the team,” confided a source. It has also been established by this publication that recently sacked Mbabane Swallows head coach, Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati, is the favourite candidate to replace Hlophe as Wanderers head coach. “The team has been engaging ‘Koki’ over a possible move to Wanderers,” sources said.

Undergoing

When sought for comment, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat Mahlalela said it was true that the team would be undergoing administrative changes. However, Mahlalela said as far as he was concerned, Hlophe was still Wanderers coach as nothing official had reached his office. “Hlophe is still our coach as far as I am concerned. it is true that Wanderers will embark on administrative changes and as soon as there are new developments, they will be communicated to the media,” said Mahlalela. When sought for comment, Hlophe could not be reached as his mobile phone rang unanswered when called several times yesterday. Vilakati, on the other hand, requested not to comment as he highlighted that he knew that a lot of coaches based locally would panic after his sacking at Swallows. “I knew a number of coaches would panic. out of respect for my colleagues, may I not comment on the matter,” he said briefly.
