CITIZENS’ CRAIG OFF TO PORTUGAL

MBABANE – He is determined to make it big in his football career.


Mbabane Citizens winger Craig Abrahams has left to pursue his football career in Portugal.
The player is reported to have left the country yesterday after a green light from Citizens.
Abrahams said he loved football and was not getting any younger.


He highlighted that he would probably be joining a team from the second division in that European country.
“I will probably be joining a team from the second division; nonetheless it is still an achievement,” he said.


The player also highlighted that he was awaiting Citizens’ management to clear him so that he could leave yesterday.

“After they clear me, I will leave for South Africa and then travel from there,” he said.
Abrahams added that while he waited for his travelling date to Portugal, he will be searching for possible options in his home country.
Sought for comment, Citizens Chairman Mandla Simelane said it was true that the winger had left for Portugal.


“We have sorted out his paperwork and he is leaving for Portugal today (yesterday),” said Simelane.
The chairman said they wished Abrahams all the best in his future endeavors.


“We wish him good luck; he is a committed and gifted player,” said the chairman.
Simelane added that the management was trying to beef up the squad with import players, in particular.

“We have identified some of the foreign players with whom we want to boost the squad to add value and assist the present players,” he said.
The chairman said the addition of experienced players to the team was a priority in order to improve from the current log position.
Abrahams has spent a short time with the capital side after he was introduced with other eight new signees at the beginning of the 2018/19 season.
He previously played for Mozambican side Costa Do Sol FC.


The other players who joined Citizens with Abrahams include countryman goalkeeper Thabo Makhae, Ghana’s Ernest Kwane Afful, Togo’s Panawe Talboussouma, DRC’s Mwamba Ponda and local players in Bhekinkhosi Mlotsa, Ayanda Kunene, Sizwe Khumalo and Sabelo Sangweni.
