NKULULEKO ENDS 2018 ON HIGH

MBABANE – EUDF athlete, Nkululeko Gama completed his 32nd win in the Mbabane Parkrun in style yesterday.
The Eswatini Umbutfo Defence Force runner clocked 16:15 minutes to stamp his authority on the weekly 5km timed run startin

g and finishing at Mbabane Club every Saturday. As usual, he started the first lap leading the 55 runners on the trails of the Mbabane Golf Course. Swazi Slojos runner Zwelithini Mndzebele was the one on his heels but seemed to let the gap widen a little with fatigue creeping into him. This was 2km into the finishing point.


Mndzebele did try to catch up but the gap was already about 100m between them, Gama comfortable crossed the finish line with his chaser clocking in at 16:50 minutes.


Gama holds the record for the runner with most wins (32 wins) and also boasts of a personal best time of 14:56 minutes, which also happens to be the best time in the local run. He said the parkrun helped him to stay in shape as a runner.
“When I joined the weekly race I thought it would be a once-off thing but I am proud to say I have participated 33 times out of the 86 total parkruns. My target in 2019 is to partake in almost all the parkruns,” Gama said.
In the ladies category, Delsile Ngubane emerged as the winner finishing the race in 27:58 minutes to complete her ninth win in 19 total runs.
Coming second was Anita Masango on 35:35 minutes with Kirstie Van Rensburg completing the top three in 35:43 minutes.
