MBABANE – He has been unfortunate lately. That is Manzini Sundowns’ first choice goalkeeper in 22-year-old Lwethu Simelane.

He missed about three league games, returned and earned himself his third yellow, served suspension and was back against Manzini Wanderers last Sunday but got injured again.

Tough

“We are in a tough situation. He will be seeing a medical specialist who will give us direction on his availability or none,” Sundowns’ PRO Muzi Matsenjwa said when asked about the player’s situation yesterday.
After his injury, his deputy Phila Mamba, signed from First Division outfit Amalanda FC, took over the reins.

Sundowns lost 2-0 on the day, which helped Wanderers ease their relegation woes, jumping up to eighth in the standings.
The two sides meet again this weekend in the EswatiniBank Cup last 16 on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Sundowns need Simelane fit and ready for the clash, which is why Matsenjwa described the situation as tough.
“The specialist will determine everything,” Simelane said.

Match

Sundowns and Wanderers will be the main match at 3:35pm and will be preceded by Mbabane Highlanders against Matsapha United at 1:30pm.
Highlanders tore apart Matsapha last Saturday in the MTN Premier League second round, winning 3-1 at Mhlume, the latter’s backyard.
