SIHLANGU, MOZ DRAW IN SA
MBABANE – Sihlangu played to a 1-all draw against Mozambique yesterday in Pretoria, at the Tuks University Sports Ground.
This was during their international friendly match as the nation’s pride prepares for their second leg fixture of the AFCON qualifiers against Tunisia on the weekend of March 22-23, 2019.
The local side’s goal was scored by Young Buffaloes marksman Sandile Gamedze during the first half of the match.
However, the ‘Black Mambas’ as they are popularly known in their native land, managed to hold the Kostadin Papic-led outfit to a 1-all stalemate in South Africa, Pretoria.
Despite the draw in his first game in charge of the national team, Papic was impressed with Sihlangu’s performance yesterday.
“We played to a 1-all draw against Mozambique and the team displayed a good performance,” he said briefly after the game.
Papic also highlighted that the opposition capitalised on a silly mistake made by Sihlangu and converted to hold them to a draw.
Sihlangu are also set to play the national Under-23s of Zambia in another international friendly as the Central African nation prepare for their Under-23 AFCON qualifier against Malawi.

The nation’s pride only beat Mozambique 3-1 on May 9, 1999 during the COSAFA Cup. Otherwise Mozambique won 12 games drew five and lost just one in 18 games against the locals.
