MOZ FOR SBS TENNIS INVITATIONAL TOURNEY
MBABANE – The Eswatini National Tennis Association (ENTA) will once again host the Swaziland Building Society (SBS) Tennis Juniors Tournament.
The difference with this edition is that it will be an invitational tournament, which will see players from Mozambique and most likely South Africa competing against emaSwati.
This will make it an international tournament for the local junior tennis players.
Eswatini National Tennis Association (ENTA) Secretary Nqaba Mkhaliphi said the involvement of international players would be the first of its kind for this tournament.
“This edition of the tournament will not be called the SBS Tennis Juniors Tournament. It will be styled the SBS Tennis Juniors Invitational Tournament,” he explained.

The secretary said the association would host the juniors’ tournament at the usual venue, the OlympAfrica Sports Centre in Lobamba.
Mkhaliphi clarified that Mozambique confirmed their participation and they were working around the clock to have South Africa on board as well.
“Mozambique have confirmed that they will be taking part in this edition, which is why we say it is an invitational tournament,” said Mkhaliphi. According to the secretary, the tournament will be for three divisions. These are the Under-16, Under-14 and Under-12.
The participation of international players means that the tournament will be tough and the best performers will represent Eswatini.
The games will take place at the newly-constructed E0.5 million ENTA courts.
This past weekend, ENTA’s Executive Committee, including President Maxwell Jele, met the Mozambique Tennis Federation Executive Committee where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both parties.
Some of the main things contained in the MoU were that both parties shall develop and share their calendars of events and collaborate by identifying events and tournaments in which they can invite each other. They shall further endeavour to assist each other during invitations by supplementing accommodation costs so as to cushion travelling expenses.
