MBABANE – Eswatini Boxing Association (EBA) needs a total of E30 430 to host the 2019 National Championships.
This amount is for a combined event of junior and senior championships.

EBA President Pearl Dlamini confirmed the two-day tournament which she said was slated for this coming weekend. They will be staged between this coming Saturday and Sunday.

The association has reportedly requested funding from the Swaziland National Sport and Recreational Council (SNSRC) through a letter which stated the amount required to host the national championships.

“EBA will be hosting their national championships for two days in a row as per the international standards. We will host the combined championships at the MDS Hall in Msunduza, Mbabane,” reads the letter in part.

Dlamini added that after the championships for the youth and elite team would walk away with gold medals. “The medallists will form a pool of national team players who will be used for regional and international assignments if they qualify,” she said.

The president also disclosed that the year 2019 had three major international events lined-up for the seniors.
It was felt that selecting the pool as early as March would be of major benefit to the association as they would then be in a position to embark on a strong training programme for the boxers.
