MANGWANENI JUNIORS WIN U-10 1ST EDITION
MBABANE – Mangwaneni Juniors won the first edition of the Under-10 one-day tournament that was staged at Msunduza Sports Ground on Saturday.
The champions beat Supersport 2-1 in the penalties to claim the crown and the first prize award of an age appropriate soccer kit, which was among the playing equipment that was presented to the Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) by English Premier League former referee, Silvanos Ward. Both the runner-up and third place winners, Supersport and Dark City walked away with soccer balls. Asandza Dlamini from St Mark’s Primary School was recognised as the best player and awarded a t-shirt and soccer boots.
The event drew over 200 children, who flooded the playing venue to witness the junior players explore their football skills. Hhohho Regional Football Association’s Development Officer, Sibonangaye Dlamini said the in initiative behind hosting the Under-10 tournament was to inculcate football culture from grass roots level.

“During the Under-13 tournament games, we normally see the young boys coming to support their elder brothers and we saw an opportunity to expand the tournament by introducing the Under-10 tournament, which will expose the children to soccer from a tender age,” said Dlamini.
He added that the Under-10 tournament was part of their annual calendar and further thanked Ward for donating the soccer kits and equipment which they use as the tournament prizes. The event was also graced by HRFA’s Secretary, Ntokozo Tsela and Mbabane Regional League Vice Chairman, Dumsani Ndzabandzaba.
