MBABANE – ‘Moving forward’.

This simple slogan holds true for Standard Bank as the financial institution has taken a step further from just helping people financially but is also carrying out its corporate responsibility to give back to the community. Yesterday, the bank, in collaboration with other entities such as the Helping Hand and Waterman among others, raised about E8 000 to be used for the purchase of underprivileged school-going girls’ sanitary pads. The aerobathon session was carried out at the Swazi Plaza upper parking lot space where an impressive number of people had shown up. They were required to pay E50 towards this initiative but others paid much more.

The Active Matrix Gym Instructor Wandile Dladla led the aerobathon session with the help of other instructors. During an aerobics workout, dance steps are mixed with calisthenics, running and jumping. Ballet, disco, jazz, rock, and other types of music supply the tempo and rhythm for the exercises. The exercises included Zumba and other forms of dance, Cardio kickboxing, body sculpt and more. Standard Bank’s Communication and CSI Officer Sibusile Sigwane dubbed the aerobathon a huge success. “Thanks to emaSwati, who supported the initiative, we raised E8 000 towards the purchase of pads.

The Her Campaign is an initiative aimed at contributing towards young women and girls affected by the impacts of HIV within the communities in which we are present. We are grateful to our partners, TruSounds event management, The Matrix Fitness Centre, Shaka Makhanya Photography and the Swazi Plaza properties, among partners who made the event the success that it was,” she said. Head of Personal Business Banking Charles Hlatshwako thanked the people for coming on board. He said the bank found it proper to give back to the community through supporting the needy girl-child. He stressed that they were looking forward to having more partners collaborating with the bank as they continued to support the girl-child going forward.
