COPS STUN SA COUNTERPARTS
MBABANE – The last time Eswatini pool pick team played in South Africa, the hosts lost – the same happened over the weekend when Police Academy honoured an invite at Kanyamazane.
The police pool team, affiliated to Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA) and playing in the Dixie’s E30 000 Pool League, travelled to South Africa near Nelspruit last Saturday morning to play against Kanyamazane Cue Sports League (KCSL) players and returned in the evening. “It was a great experience for the team and most importantly, we managed to win the two matches played and returned home with E1 000. We retained a record set by a pick team from Eswatini last year against the same league players,” said Constable Norman Khoza, who is also one of the players and team coordinator.
He said they played in race to five format per game, won 5-3 and 5-4, respectively. “They are so professional and the venue they hosted in was also something to take from them as it was alcohol free and friendly to any fan, regardless of age. We’re also trying as a country to improve and perhaps one day when the national association is alive again, we’ll have a place like that,” he said. He also thanked his players for the precision they showed in the games and eventually got the desired results. He said that just served as evidence that Eswatini pool is of high standard and can achieve internationally. Meanwhile, the police returned home to a league game the next day against Figaredo Five and won the match with a bonus score of 13-6, meaning four points as opposed to three points.
