‘BIRDS’ TO UNVEIL NEW BOSS?
MBABANE – Winds of change are reportedly blowing at capital city giants Mbabane Swallows.
After just over a year since the demise of their chairman Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze, a former player and now successful businessman based is Durban, South Africa is set to officially take over next week.
His name will deliberately be withheld as he could not be reached to confirm the latest turn of events. Swallows are currently chaired by Gamedze’s wife Princess Lungile. Impeccable sources have said that the team’s management got her blessing to scout for a director.
“It’s nothing new as this was under discussion since last year and the man to take over knew about it since then,” said one of the sources within the team.
However, at the time the talk of a new director started, Swallows felt it was still premature to even start talking about it.
“I’m in Durban. I will tell you tomorrow when I get home,” texted Swallows mouthpiece Jackson Dlamini when questioned about the news. Dlamini would not say anything more on the issue as it is expected they will hold a press conference on Tuesday.
Efforts to get the team’s General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane proved futile and he did not respond to a text sent to him by the time of compiling this report after 7pm.
He was also reportedly out of the country in South Africa, probably in Durban too. It is believed they went there with the contract for their imminent new boss.
Meanwhile, Swallows will be the second of the big three teams to change directorship as Manzini Wanderers also did so midway through the second round this season. They also went for a South Africa-based businessman in Mehluli Nhlengetfwa while Highlanders are reportedly likely to import a director too.
