NOBUHLE NETS E72 000 ON HOME COURSE
EZULWINI – Ace golfer Nobuhle Dlamini proved invincible on home course to win the Investec Royal Swazi Open ladies section here yesterday.
After playing catch-up in the first two rounds of the event, Dlamini fired to the top in the last two days to win E72 000 in prize money at the Royal Swazi Sun Golf Course in Ezulwini yesterday. She won on 15 points to shake off closest challenger Tandi McCallum from South Africa. The latter finished on one point.
The ladies field was made up of six professionals mainly from neighbouring South Africa. Among the competitors from the neighbouring country was the celebrated Kim Williams.
Unlike the usual stroke-play format, at the event points were awarded based on the number of strokes taken at each hole.

Following yesterday’s success, Dlamini made a strong statement about leaving a mark in 2019. She is fresh from winning two events in the Sunshine Ladies Tour in South Africa. These were the Dimension Data Challenge and the Jo’burg Open. Nobuhle also won the Investec last year but the purse was smaller (E45 000).
Meanwhile, the Investec Royal Swazi Open also featured men who got a bigger share from the total E1.5 million purse. Visiting Martin Rohwer from South Africa tightened his grip on the top spot to prevail yesterday. He won a whopping E237 750.
Eswatini’s hopes were on James Pennington, who missed the cut after round two on Thursday.
