SAKHILE, LUCHING CROWNED KINGS

MATSAPHA – Sakhile Hlophe and Luching Sorokhaibam have proven beyond any shadow of doubt that they are the country’s best junior tennis players.
The duo, including Thando Bhembe and Heyden Loffler, has dominated local juniors’ tennis for the past two seasons.
Luching has been in her own class in the under 18s girls category while the trio of Sakhile, Thando and Heyden have been winning the under 18s boys category interchangeably.
Sakhile and Luching were yesterday crowned champions of the first Swaziland Building Society (SBS) Juniors Tennis Tournament of the new season which started on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Andlile Dlamini was the winner of the under 10s boys category and Sanelisiwe Simelane won the under 10s girls category.

Uviwe Vilakati and Sakhizwe Malindzisa won the under 14s boys and under 14s girls categories, respectively, while Kalvin Nxumalo clinched the under 14s boys back draw.
As girls were not too many, the round robin system was employed with six girls in each category and each played a game against the remaining five.
Sakhile beat Livilenkhosi 6-1, 6-1 to reach the final where he defeated Khaya Dlamini 6-4, 6-1. Khaya had beaten Sizolwethu 6-3, 6-3 to reach the final and end up being the runner up.
For the girls under 18s category, the phenomenal Luching first defeated Andile 6-1, 6-2, then won 6-0, 6-2 against Malaika. On her third game, she beat Tanzile 6-2.

Sakhizwe, on the other hand, was crowned the under 14s girls champions following a great 6-2 win in her first game against Barika. She won 6-1 against Siviwe and proceeded to get a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Nkosingiphile.Sakhizwe then beat Andiswa 6-3, 7-6 and won 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 against Temancele in her last match.
Kalvin won the under 14s boys back draw match after defeating Phiwa 3-3, 11-5 in the final. He had won the first semi-final 4-0 against Sicalo. Phiwa on the other hand had reached the back draw final after winning the second semi-final 4-0 against Nqoba.
The winners were awarded with trophies and monetary prizes.
