TOP LAWYERS FOR PLE CONSTITUTION REVIEW
MBABANE – Prominent lawyers have been appointed to assist in reviewing the constitution of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE).
The three-member committee is chaired by Zweli Jele, who is currently the Mbabane Highlanders chairman.
The well-known duo of Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli and PLE Prosecutor Desmond Manda are the rest of the members of the body.
They have been appointed in reaction to a decision taken during the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) retreat last month.
Among the duties of the committee will be helping in clearing the air on the contentious issue of Executive committee members, whose teams get relegated from the National First Division, which is the lowest division of PLE.
“Matters presented to the committee for decision at any meeting shall be decided by a majority of votes,” reads the terms of reference in part.
Other duties include the amendment of the constitution so that newly-promoted teams have full rights at the beginning of their first PLE annual general meeting.
“The committee shall report to the Board on its activities, findings and recommendations at the meeting of the Board of Governors on or before June 30, 2019,” read the correspondence copied to the committee by Chairman Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula.
The committee operates under a budget approved by the PLE Executive Committee.
