MORE HONOURS FOR BOXER SIBONELO
MBABANE – Professional boxer Sibonelo ‘Mayweather’ Ndzimandze keeps shining beyond the ring.
The South Africa-based boxer graduated with Honours in History at the University of Zululand in the KwaZulu-Natal Province two days ago. This comes less than two years after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Humanities at the same university. Confirming the latest developments, Eswatini’s ‘Mayweather’ said he was funded by Tibiyo, and expressed appreciation for the opportunity.
“To other athletes, I want to encourage them not to abandon their studies but to light the candle on both ends. It is doable; they should use their talent to pay their education fees like I always do,” he said.
Currently, the former Eswatini 64kg champion is pursuing his Master’s degree.
bursaries
“I’m relying on sports bursaries to foot the bill for my studies.
“After all, once we are over the hill in sports, we then use education to earn a living,” he said.
Ndzimandze turned professional in 2017 following an illustrious career as an amateur.
He is based in the neighbouring country, where he is pursuing his career in the professional ranks. His next stop is expected to be in Durban for a tournament on a date to be confirmed.
