MBABANE – It is an issue that needs both parties to find an amicable solution. That is the suspension of Mbabane Highlanders’ key midfielder Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule following a dispute between the team and the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) over which games he was supposed to be suspended in after accumulating three yellow cards for the second time.

The bone of contention emanated after the capital city outfit received a correspondence from the PLE in that the player was among other players who were due for suspension after accumulating three yellow cards.
According to impeccable sources at the team, the gifted midfielder accumulated the third yellow card when they played against Royal Leopard.

Their next fixture was against Manzini Sundowns before Manzini Wanderers and according to the sources, the player had to serve suspension for those two games.
It has been brought to this publication’s attention that the PLE did not serve Highlanders with a letter for ‘Mlaba’ ‘suspension against Sundowns.
Nonetheless, he did not play as the team was aware that he had accumulated three yellow cards and was due for suspension.

“Despite having not received a correspondence from PLE, Highlanders opted to bench the player against Sundowns as they feared that they may be penalised should they field him because they were aware that he was supposed to be serving suspension,” said the source.

Information gathered is to the effect that Highlanders received the correspondence from PLE that ‘Mlaba’ was due for suspension ahead of their league match against Wanderers, which meant he was not supposed to play and serve suspension the next game on their last league fixture against Green Mamba.

The correspondence was copied for the affected teams but the capital city giants protested in writing to the PLE ahead of their game against Green Mamba.
“Two letters were written to the PLE for them to resolve the issue ahead of the game against Green Mamba but the PLE was stubborn and insisted that ‘Mlaba’ was due for suspension,” a source said.
