‘MADZE’ AT RASAS WITH NO LISWATI
MBABANE – Like most emaSwati, Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Harries’ ‘Madze’ Bulunga is also disappointed.
Bulunga left the country yesterday for Namibia to join his colleagues for a Youth Ministers’ meeting and the Regional Sports Awards (RASAs), which is an event recognising and celebrating excelling athletes and sports officials within the 10 African Union Region Five countries.
However, there is no liSwati nominee this year while last year there was representation when South Africa hosted the event. Bulunga will be part of both the Youth Ministers’ meeting starting this morning and the RASA Gala Dinner on Saturday night at the Safari Court Hotel in Windhoek.
The meeting runs until tomorrow and Bulunga will be in the company of Youth Enterprise Revolving Fund Chief Executive Officer Bhekizwe Maziya.
nominees
Before his departure yesterday, Bulunga said in a press statement that local athletes and officials should not despair. “It is true that we are all disappointed that none of our athletes or officials made it into the list of nominees for the RASAs. We believe that we certainly deserved to be represented on the list of nominees,” he said.
He said instead of despairing, he encouraged all athletes to work even harder and he was confident that in the next edition, Eswatini will be represented. Bulunga is expected back in the country on Sunday as confirmed by the ministry’s Communications Officer, Sibongiseni Zondo.
