LOBAMBA – Zizojika izinto (Things will change)!

This was the welcome song for Ally kgomongwe as Mbabane Highlanders new sole director for the next five years. More or less 300 Highlanders (Bull) supporters welcomed him into the club before several patrons led by their Chairman, Isaac Shabangu. He also danced to it along with his entourage from South Africa. ‘I never came here expecting help from anyone’.

That was the businessman and South Africa’s ruling party African National Congress (ANC) Pretoria branch chairman. Kgomongwe was speaking during a supporters’ meeting convened specifically to officially introduce him.

“This is the day that the Lord made. I’m so happy to be here. I’m slowly and surely prepared and I’m not afraid of anything just like I know that I’m not a chancer. I’ve been manager for my team since the age of 17. Here I’m bringing professionalism and giving all of you a chance to have power in the team.

knowledge, unity is power

“For me knowledge and unity are power. With these two components, Highlanders’ brand can go far because I’m aware of things like backbiting, infighting and sabotaging but as an ANC man I know all these things and I’m ready for them,” he declared much to the supporters’ amusement.

He told the supporters that there were a lot of stories about him not having money or whatsoever but he always was ready to handle those.
“A lot happened since my visit last weekend and I’m disappointed because the MC that resigned had just been appointed to continue until we put ours in place. I didn’t chase anyone but a journalist called on Tuesday to say there was a letter confirming their resignation. Then yesterday (Friday), I got another call about former directors repossessing a kombi and training ground,” he said.

He expressed his disappointment at these especially the team not training because the field was only usable with the then directors.
“I never came here expecting someone to help me but all I can do is to help myself to help Highlanders.
