MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows and Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows seem to be on a collision course regarding the sale of Nigeria-born forward Kola Aladeokun.

Swallows have reportedly written a letter to the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) demanding commission generated from the  sale of the player to Zambian outfit Zesco United in November last year. The letter was written over a month ago. They want at least 30 per cent of the total clearance fee from Black Swallows, who had loaned the player to the red and white outfit before the switch to Zambia. The player was reportedly cleared for over E300 000. In essence, Swallows are not expecting less than E90 000.

Swallows want the intervention of the football office in the matter. They claimed that it was an agreement between the two parties before the player left that they would be compensated. It was further alleged that they wanted the money to be deducted from the black and white outfit’s prize money. Black Swallows won the National First Division League title and their achievement will be rewarded with a E180 000 ‘carrot’.

Informed insiders at Black Swallows claimed the team were not ready to compensate Swallows, as the player was not the Mbabane-based side but had joined on a short-term loan contract.

“The contract was a three-month deal, but when Swallows extended it, there were terms and conditions that they would not benefit from the sale, as the player was already waiting for an international move,” alleged the source.

Black Swallows Chairman, Charles Matsebula, who also represents Kola, did not want to entertain the reports on grounds that he had ‘nothing official to that effect.’

“I’m hearing this for the first time,” he said.
Swallows legal advisor Welile Mabuza confirmed that the team wrote to the football bodies over the matter, saying it was not only Kola’s issue that remained unresolved, but that of defender Steve Nzambe, who was cleared to Moroccan side Ittihad Riadi Tanger early this year. The latter’s clearance fee of about E297 800 is also said to be outstanding.
