MBABANE – ‘Mbabane Highlanders’ house must be put back in order’.

This was a statement made by the team’s new Director, South African businessman and politician Ally Kgomongwe, soon after taking over the reins. The team was left in disarray by the ‘old’ directorship, which did not pay the players’ salaries for May, consequently others resorted to boycotting training. However, the new director will today pay 40 per cent of the players’ salaries following a meeting yesterday with the Management Committee (MC) and the players at the Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre in Ezulwini. The capital city outfit’s Head of Communications and Secretariat Gcina Dlamini confirmed the meeting with Kgomongwe and highlighted that a number of issues were discussed and the issue of players’ salaries was on top of the list.

Salaries

“The director asked the players to forward him their personal bank details so that he could start paying out 40 per cent of their May salaries tomorrow (today),” said Dlamini. The head of communications further disclosed that Kgomongwe wanted harmony in the team and has urged the players not to further contact the former directors, for purposes of progress. “The director will then pay the players full salaries as per their contracts at the end of this month,” he said. Dlamini also disclosed that for July, with the arrival of new players and the transfer of others, the players’ contracts will be reviewed and will get paid according to the new agreement terms with the directorship. The team’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Paul ‘Magidz’eludzakeni’ Masilela also confirmed the meeting and the fact that Kgomongwe had promised to pay the players’ May salaries, giving them the 40 per cent.

Break

It has also been gathered that the South African businessman will be heading back to his native country today and the players had been given a two-week break as they are expected to return to pre-season training on July 1, 2019. Dlamini also added that the team was in search of a new coach and they would be running an advert for the vacancy as per their discussion with Kgomongwe.
