MBABANE - Member of Parliament (MP) Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo did not let the opportunity of garnering support for his elite league team Matsapha United during the Shukuma programme in Mangcongco on Saturday.

Nxumalo, who had attended the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council’s (ESRC) outreach programme at Mangcongco to support his parliament colleague ‘One Way’ Zikalala, when given an opportunity to address the more or less 300 people present on the day, could not resist the temptation to ‘recruit’ more supporters for the team.

Matsapha United will be enjoying their second season in the elite league, following their resurgence back into the limelight.
“How many people here are aware that Gandaganda cranks every week? I am sure most of you are aware by now that we have Gandaganda and I am positive that many of you will be supporting the team,” he said to a raucous applause.

Nxumalo also encouraged the people of Mangcongco to ensure that they maintain a healthy lifestyle by regularly training and keeping active. He thanked the ESRC for reaching out to the people of Mangcongco by delivering the now popular programme.

The event, which started with a six kilometre walk, was spiced up by cultural dances and physical activities for the better part of the day. Also attending was the ESRC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo.

ESRC Media Officer Dumisani Ntiwane thanked the people of Mangcongco for attending in great numbers. He disclosed that the next stop will be the Motshane Inkhundla.
“We also greatly appreciate the presence of our partners like PSI, Crime Prevention, Breast and Cervical Cancer Network, Swaziland Diabetes and others that turned up in numbers as well, to teach the populace about their services,” he said.

“This Saturday, we will be headed to the Motshane Inkhundla and we hope that more people will attend as well, because our Shukuma programme is designed in such a way that it accommodates the different needs of individuals and groups,” he said.
