MBABANE – The Mbabane Swallows nest is leaking like a sieve! After weeks of alleged unrest within the club, last night, the club’s Management Committee (MC) dropped a bombshell when they stepped down just a few hours after the chairperson, Princess Lungile, had told the Times Sports Desk that all was normal and Swallows were a ‘one big happy family’.
An informed source told the Times Sports Desk that after a lengthy meeting last night, the MC, led by the club’s legend, Lloyd ‘Magic Feet’ Maziya, informed the chairperson, Princess Lungile, of their decision to step down.
The MC’s resignation comes after a series of unsubstantiated allegations pertaining to the sale of players and the use of one of the club’s account which were carried by one of the local publications for the past two weeks.
defamatory
The contents of the articles cannot be repeated because of their highly defamatory nature.
Contrary to the reports, the club chairperson, Princess Lungile, who took over after the demise of the her husband and club owner, Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze on January 14, 2018, said all was well within the club and they were looking forward to the new season – 2019/2020.
“Everything is normal at Mbabane Swallows. I am still the director and our focus is on preparing for the upcoming season,” she told the Times Sports Desk yesterday afternoon in a brief interview.
She went further to dispute any allegations of misappropriation of funds and a suspected coup.
“All is in order and we are one big happy family,” she said
Coup
A statement had earlier been released by the club’s spokesperson, Jackson Dlamini, who disputed the alleged coup to oust the chairperson.
Princess Lungile had also met the team elders on Monday and assured them of her continued leadership of the club.
However, the MC took the decision to resign en-masse last night.
MC Chairman Lloyd ‘Magic Feet’ Maziya confirmed last night that they have resolved to step down.
“Yes, it’s true. We had tendered our resignation as an MC for the sake of progress in the club. That’s all I can say,” Maziya said briefly.
Efforts to get a comment from the Princess Lungile proved futile last night.
