Best team to play against Bafana Bafana - Mashaba
LOBAMBA – Sihlangu coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba said he would travel with the best team for the international friendly game against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Saturday.
He said this during their first training session at Somhlolo Stadium in preparation for the game to be played at Chatsworth Stadium, Durban.
The South African born mentor said as Bafana Bafana is preparing for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, they had to give them the best practice.
“We are not going to take this game lightly as we are going to play a side that will be competing in the biggest soccer tournament in the world. We are going to give them the best practice they deserve. I’m very happy that they do recognise us and we have a point to prove,” he said.
Sihlangu lost 1-0 in their last meeting against the Carlos Alberto Perreira led side early last year at Germiston Stadium in Johannesburg. Bafana Bafana was under sacked coach Joel Santana at the time.
“We had a good game against Bafana Bafana in our last meeting even though we ended up losing 0-1. This time around they are going to dance to our music as I will take the best team to Durban,” he said.
Best attendance on first day of Sihlangu camp
LOBAMBA – The national team, Sihlangu, started on a good note in 2010 as more than half of the players attended their first training camp.
Sihlangu coach Shakes Mashaba said he was impressed with the attendance. He said since he arrived two years ago, it was the first training camp to be well attended on the first day.
More than 25 players attended the training session yesterday at Somhlolo Stadium.
The team is preparing for the international friendly game against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana. This number includes one international player, Winners Park Civil Matsebula.
Only five players present were not part of the training as they were still nursing their injuries. These were Ndoda Mthethwa, Zweli Zulu, Stopper Mtsetfwa, Lwazi ‘Shana’ Maziya and Zakhele Manyatsi. Mashaba said the players were due to be inspected by the doctor yesterday evening.
Present during the training were Mbabane Swallows and Highlanders players who were from Mozambique to play international friendly games. By yesterday evening, Mashaba was waiting for the arrival of the international players.
Assistant coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati drilled the team in the morning session.
