MBABANE – Former Eswatini international Mthuzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo has been included in Green Mamba’s CAF Champions League squad.

Green Mamba’s squad, released on CAF website, shows that he is still part of the league champions. ‘Xavi’ is reportedly close to completing a switch to South Africa’s newly-promoted National First Division champions Stellenbosch F.C. He has been training with the South Africa-based side on numerous occasions. Reached for comment, Green Mamba CEO Thami Phakathi said the squad that appeared on the website was a provisional squad.

“We were meeting deadlines when we submitted that list. We will release a final squad next week,” Phakathi said. Some of the players on the CAF list are top goalscorer Musa Dlamini, Phinda Dlamini and striker Solomon Oladele.

Others are; Thokozani Mkhulisi, Banele ‘Makonese’ Dlamini, and Samkelo Gumbi, to mention a few. Players who were on loan to other teams, who include Muhle Shiba, have been excluded. The latter was at Manzini Sundowns. Green Mamba will play Zesco United of Zambia on August 10 in the preliminary round first leg.
The game will be played at Mavuso Sports Centre next Saturday and kick-off  time is 3pm.
