MBABANE – The biggest fish in this coming weekend’s Maguga Bass Cash Challenge will win E10 000.

Anglers will head north in search of the biggest live bass in August. Bass is a name shared by many species of fish, which are mainly perch-like. Maguga Dam outside Pigg’s Peak in Northern Hhohho will host a two-day fishing extravaganza dubbed Cash Challenge Eswatini between Saturday and Sunday. Fishing will start at 6:30am on both days, with the second day’s festivities ending at 11:30am.

Swaziland Angling Association President Derek Hopf confirmed the prize money, saying there was no restriction on number of entries.
“We allow as many entries as possible,” he said.
According to information shared with this publication, entry fee is E750 while those entering the competition at the dam on the day of the event will pay an extra E100.

“A maximum four anglers will be allowed per boat,” read the correspondence in part.
Prizes for the biggest bass will be given to the top five.

Fishing will be from a boat or the bank. It will be an artificial lure angling championship. No live baits are permitted. Fish has to be alive and in good condition to be accepted at the weigh station.

Anglers are encouraged to book now if they need accommodation at the nearby lodge. For further enquiries, anglers can liaise with Hopf at derekhopf@architectsinternational.co.sz. Payments can be made on First National Bank Account Number 62216028945. The branch code is 280168.
