Big 3 host Moz teams

MBABANE – The country’s big three teams will this weekend flex their muscles against three Mozambican top sides at Somhlolo National Stadium.

The local sides, Manzini Wanderers, Mbabane Swallows and Mbabane Highlanders will host Costa Do Sol, Maxaquene and Desportivo. These are the same teams that Highlanders and Swallows played over the weekend in Maputo courtesy of Top Lotto who sponsored the two local sides.

The games are aimed at helping Swallows and Highlanders prepare for their CAF Cup games next month as they play South Africa’s SuperSport United and Zimbabwe’s Caps United respectively.
The trio will be hosting their Mozambican counterparts in what is going to be return matches by the Mozambican sides being Costa Do Sol, Maxaquene and Desportivo. Highlanders and Swallows played these Mozambican sides over the weekend in Maputo as part of their CAF Games preparations and also the Swazi Bank Cup.

Swallows secretary Sibusiso Manana confirmed the games and that they have added Wanderers. He said the games will be played on Saturday and Sunday starting at 2.30pm, 4.30pm and the last game at 6.30pm.

However, he said they were yet to draw the full fixture but the first game would feature Wanderers against Maxaquene F.C. Quizzed on the planned trip to Witbank, South Africa where Highlanders and Swallows would play against two sides from there, he said that was shelved for now.

The team’s director Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze had said he was working on organising games with South African sides this coming weekend but that has since been shelved. Other details regarding the games will be released in due course.
