MANZINI – Despite that it was his first time inside the ring, Sidumo Motsa fought like a professional boxer.

This was during the Eswatini Boxing Association Trade Fair tournament which was held at Mavuso Sports Centre yesterday.
The Newboys Boxing Club pugilist exudated unmatched confidence just before the start of the 60kg bout against Sifiswesihle Mtsetfwa of Kid Mamba Boxing Club.

On the other hand Mtseftwa looked calm and relaxed, somehow making it difficult to predict the winner between the tie.
However, when the three-minute first round started, it was clear the Newboys Boxing Club boxer had an upper hand.
He unleashed powerful punches on Mtsetfwa, who on most occasions was retreating and trying to block or evade punches.
The second round was more like the first one but Mtsetfwa had gained more confidence as at some point he released one or two punches but were blocked by the forceful Motsa.

excitement
The third round Motsa continued from where he left off, pulling backto-back punches that landed on the opponent’s head, face and stomach much to the excitement of the over 200 boxing fanatics.

When the judge, Kidzo Shongwe announced Motsa as the winner, fans went wild celebrating his win.
After the bout, Motsa said despite winning all the three rounds, it was not an easy one.
“It was tough; I did not expect to win as it was my first time in a boxing ring. I am happy and I am looking to doing better in my next bouts on Sunday,” Motsa said.

Meanwhile, Mtseftwa said it was a learning curve for him and he was looking to rectify his mistake.
There were 12 bouts on the day and the first bout was between 32kg boxers in Titan Boxing Club Nkosephayo Mgabhi and Seluleko Dlamini of Matsapha Boxing Club. The former won unamously.

Eswatini Boxing Association vice-president Webster Lukhele thanked the sponsor for sponsoring the tournament.
“We are appealing to more companies to support the sport so that it grows.
Boxers grow when they frequently fight and we are happy about the kind gesture by Touch IT Networks.

On Sunday we are expecting boxers from Mozambique and it would be interesting to note how our boxers fare in these fights,” Lukhele said.
The tournament is sponsored to a tune of E17 000 by Touch IT Networks.
Day two of the Trade Fair staged tournament will be on Sunday where Mozambican boxers are expected to be part of the competition.
