EZULWINI – While South Africa’s Jaco Ahlers shone in the professionals’ category, local golfer Sam Mzileni left a mark in the Pro-Am division.

Mzileni, who had partnered with South Africa golfer  Estiaan Conradie,  were crowned the winners in the professional-amateur (Pro-Am) category after carding a combined score of 94 points after day two of play at the Royal Swazi Spa Golf Course on Friday.

“We won on a score of a milestone 94 points together with my professional partner (Estiaan Conradie). Indeed it was two days of extreme competition over the two days. The bad rainy weather on Friday was also in play but we managed to also triumph over the weather elements. I am so happy and excited to have won the first prize. It’s both an amazing and humbling experience,” he said.

“I started golfing about 10 years ago and I have played the King’s Cup before. Previously, I was on the podium but in the top 10 about four years ago. It is a great sport good for networking and learning about yourself since it needs both good mental and physical composure. It’s a very challenging sport and we always say if golf does not humble you, it humiliates you.

“I wish to recognise my Mbabane Golf Club and the sterling EEC Golf Team for having invited me to play the King’s Cup. I dedicate my win to my fellow regiments at Inkhanyeti Ludzidzini.  Big up to the King’s Cup Golf Tournament organising committee for a well-staged event,” he added. He was closely followed by the pair of Andre Nel and Patson Dlamini on 92 points while Andrew kudos Mkhonta and Jaco Prinsloo came third on 91.
