GIDEON MHLONGO CONTINUES TO SHINE
MBABANE – Mbabane Municipal Council Chief Executive Officer Gideon Mhlongo is on fire in the golf course.
He won the United Holdings’ Leg of Lamb two weeks in a row. It was second time lucky for long-serving golfer, Mhlongo, as he displayed a stellar performance to win the third edition of the United Holdings Leg of Lamb played at the Mbabane Golf Club on Friday.
Surprise
Interestingly, and to the pleasant surprise of fellow golfers present on the day, Mhlongo won the revamped Leg of Lamb in two consecutive Fridays. The previous Friday, he beat an amazing field of 32 with 21 points and this time around, he again netted a cool 21 points ahead of 29 participants.
In a much bigger competition, the Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) Monthly Mug this past Saturday, Mhlongo scored a 68 net to finish second after Colani Dlamini, who netted 67.
As evidence that Mhlongo has taken his game to another level, last Friday he outpaced even the more consistent handicap 3 Siboniso Mkhwanazi, who was just two points behind. There were three golfers on 18 points commanded on a countback by Behlule Dlomo, who was followed by the likes of Dr Nida and Valentine Maziya.
The last two prizes for the day went to Stephen Mavuso and Sifiso Dhlamini, who both got 17 points.
Thanked
United Holdings’ Group Marketing Manager Mcolisi Dlamini thanked the golfers for turning up in numbers for the competition. Dlamini observed that since the tournament was launched about three weeks ago, there has been massive interest from the golfers. “We’re encouraged as a sponsor to partner with Mbabane Golf Club because this is obviously a win-win arrangement,” he said.
