COUNTDOWN ALMOST OVER
MBABANE – The countdown is almost over. The curtain is drawing to a close for the sixth edition of the Imbube Marathon which will take centre stage on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium. The event is proudly presented by Eswatini National Pension Fund (ENPF) in partnership with one of the main sponsors Standard Bank.
The hard work in training has already been done and now it is time to get ready for the big day. If you missed out on the registration and still wish to join the over 5 000 runners on Sunday, you will be pleased to know that final entries in the 42km and 21km are still available. Aspirant runners can visit Ezulwini Happy Valley tomorrow, where they can be registered manually at an extra E30 on top of the race entry fee. This was announced by ENPF Marketing Manager and Race Officer Mlungisi Dlamini.

The 3.3km race which comprises non-competing runners such as the elderly, children and people with physical challenges had already been sold out after reaching the 2 500 target.
“The registration for late entries will be held at Ezulwini Happy Valley tomorrow, starting at 9am until 10pm or until the 450 entries sell out. It’s first come first serve and it is advisable that people should come early for these minimum entries. All participating athletes can collect their goodie bags from Happy Valley tomorrow morning,” said Dlamini.
The Imbube Marathon is one of Eswatini’s national events which has athletes from Southern African Development Countries as well as international. Lucrative prizes have been tabled for the winners.
The first Liswati to cross the finish line will walk away E60 000 richer, the 42.2km champion’s package is placed at E30 000 in both the men and ladies divisions. The 21.1km winners in the open catergory are entitled to E5 000, runners-up E2 000 while third and fourth place winners will get E 1 000 and E500 respectively.
