WANDERERS’ SUPPORTERS WANT NYANGA OUT
MBABANE – Hub giants Manzini Wanderers’ supporters are discontent with Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe and want him out.
Barely a month after his return at the maroon and white outfit’s camp, the team’s supporters have already had enough of the coach.
On Sunday, the hub giants suffered a humiliating 0-3 loss at the hands of army side Young Buffaloes and the team’s fans could no longer hide their feelings after a third defeat.
Hlophe had to be escorted off the pitch by members of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) to his car after the game as fans bayed for his blood.
The Times Sports Desk has reliably been informed that the team supporters are seriously unhappy with Hlophe in charge and are planning to invade the team’s training session to demand Hlophe’s resignation from his position.
Drawn for comment, MC Chairman Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli said they were all very much concerned with the team’s performance and said a lot was being done to try and make sure the team played well to win games as expected.
“We urge supporters to calm down. We are working on many issues. The fact that this is a team means there are many people and elements involved. We understand losing is not a common thing for Wanderers as it is a big team. If there are concerns, please raise them with the MC,” he said.
Mdluli added that they would soon call upon supporters to formulate a National Supporters Committee (NSC) as per their AGM resolve where this structure’s executive committee will be elected. Mdluli said the NSC will coordinate with other structures to deal with supporters’ issues. “We ask supporters to give the coach a chance; it will be unfair to judge him after about three games in charge. We are playing good football but the challenge is with scoring and it is not too far where we will turn the corner,” he said.
Meanwhile, the team CEO, Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini, said reports of unhappy supporters who planned on going to the team’s training to demand the coach’s resignation had not reached them.
“In all supporters’ platforms, I have not been informed of such. We know all supporters want to win worldwide. We will soon be meeting with supporters to formulate the NSC, among other items,” he said. Dlamini said there were proper channels to follow in expressing grievances and invading the team’s training would tarnish the club’s name.
