‘BIRDS’ OUT TO CEMENT TOP SPOT

MBABANE – Giants Mbabane Swallows’ bid to tighten their grip on the top spot continues against strugglers Milling Hot Spurs this afternoon.

It is a battle between two sides at the opposite ends of the MTN Premier League table. On paper, this should be a walk in the park for the capital city giants. They boast both depth and talent to easily pass the test. 
The red and white ensemble do not only need to protect their unbeaten run, but also need maximum points to shake off Royal Leopard, who keep breathing heavily down their neck.

The police side have a game in hand against Young Buffaloes. Honour Janza’s men are currently a point clear at the top and they can stretch their lead to four points, as Leopard will only be in action against Manzini Wanderers tomorrow.

 For winless Hot Spurs, tonight’s task is akin to trying to convince a four-year-old that lettuce tastes like candy. They have only two draws to show for their disastrous campaign after dropping 19 points in seven outings.

The need to make hay while the sun shines by starting to collect points cannot be overstated if they are serious about extending their stay in top flight football. The players need no motivation against a ‘big gun’, but enthusiasm alone will not win them the match.

They stood their ground against another Mbabane side, Highlanders, before going down by a solitary goal. They will hope to replicate that performance to cause an upset.
