MBABANE – Chiropractic treatment enhances performance and helps to prevent injuries. All athletes subject their bodies to unimaginable torture and endure lots of muscles and body pain. To address the issue of preventing prolonged fatigue and injuries, Doctor Nicole Mavimbela has encouraged athletes to practise chiropractic care.

This treatment is only administered by hand. It is non-invasive and drug free. It helps the muscles to relax and also helps in enhancing proper blood circulation. All these are paramount if an athlete is to perform perfectly.
With care focused on spinal manipulation, it also heals headaches, ankle and spinal pains. Mavimbela unveiled the secrets of this treatment and also highlighted that it was crucial for all sportsmen. The treatment does not exceed 30 minutes when administered by a professional Chiropractic Doctor (DC). “Athletes who use chiropractic care have an advantage over their counter parts that do not. The benefits of this treatment is improved performance in any sport, improved joint range of motion, it helps reduce recovery time for minor and major injuries and also reduces muscle stiffness and pain,” said Mavimbela.

When asked on what her take was on the application of ice or ice water when an athlete incurred an injury, Mavimbela was quick to say that it was only the responsibility of a therapist or chiropractor to address.  She cautioned against such practices but urged athletes to have a therapist on standby in case of injuries.

“The use of ice is common in football. The main reason for using ice is to reduce inflammation and swelling around the affected arrear, which is best for a simple sprain or strain of muscles. The best advice is to have a chiropractor or a therapist on site because if the injury is mishandled, there is a high possibility of aggravating it,” added Mavimbela.

Bodybuilder and fitness trainer Arnaldo Barbosa testified to the benefits of the treatment and urged athletes to practice it frequently.
“We all need help in the sports industry, regardless of the type of sport one does. Injuries, fatigue, mental distress and other strains are bound to happen if you are sportsmen. Doctor Mavimbela is the answer to all our questions in terms of recovery from injuries and muscle exhaustion. I use this treatment after training and when preparing for shows and it helps relieve back pain and strains from the heavy lifting and other intense exercises,” said Barbosa.

Zithande Athletics Club’s coach Nsizwa Thwala also recommended chiropractic care as opposed to pharma-surgical treatment. He said that it being an external drug-free treatment made it even more appealing for all athletes. “The fact that it does not use any medication makes it even safer for athletes. We are all about being healthy and fit so instead of taking recovery drinks after a marathon, I would recommend a full body massage, which is incorporated in the chiropractic treatment, or an ice bath”, said Thwala.
Doctor Mavimbela is available for bookings at Transformers Blast and Burn Studio in Sidwashini Industrial Site. His contact is 7861 3160.
