MPS WANT ANSWERS ON FORCES TEAMS
MBABANE – Minister Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga has his work cut out for him, as MPs want to know why he is turning a blind eye on blatant abuse of State resources by football teams run by security forces.
According to a Notice Paper which was distributed in the House of Assembly on Monday, Lobamba Lomdzala MP Marwick Khumalo has a series of questions for Bulunga, who is the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs.
The notice paper indicates that Bulunga should inform the House why the resources which include training during working hours, winning prize money and collecting gatetakings yet not depositing them into the Consolidated Fund.
He said the players’ salaries were paid for by the State and the usage of government transport by team players, management and some supporters to the stadiums was a cause for concern.

“The usage of government transport for scouting the winning chemistry,” MP Khumalo is expected to ask when the questions eventually make it to the Order Paper.
Another question that the veteran MP intends to raise is why the hosting teams were made to book and pay for the usage of the stadiums by the ministry only for the same government to turn around and collect levies from the vendors selling foodstuff and drinks inside the stadiums.
Khumalo further wants to ask the minister if he was aware that in other countries there was a certain percentage fee paid to police for providing security in the stadiums because football was not so much a national event like Umhlanga, but a cash-cow.
