HAPPY GIRLS, DIVAS CLASH

MBABANE – It’s a regional affair.

It will be a mouth-watering clash when two regional Women Football League (WFL) teams, Madelezini Happy Girls from northern Hhohho take on Shiselweni’s Southern Divas on Sunday. The two sides have a date slated for the Technical Centre in Lobamba at 1pm. Happy Girls coach Joster Mathonsi declared war on Divas despite having suffered a massive 13-0 defeat to Manzini Wanderers last weekend. “We lost to Wanderers but that is all behind us. We are looking forward to our clash on Saturday and we expect nothing but a win in all three upcoming fixtures. Last season we had a shortage of soccer boots and since we have bought them new ones, they will be motivated to excel,” said Mathonsi.

Happy Girls were off to a bad start in the league but managed to move from position 12 on the log table to eighth spot. Mathonsi said five of his key players would beef up the squad since they were done with their exams. These are Sonto Madonsela, Ziyanda Ndzimandze, Ntsetselelo Bhembe, Bethusile Mamba and Lindelwa Shabangu.

Target

“Our target is to at least have 25 points in the first round. Next weekend we will take on Shiselweni Roses and we want to literally destroy them too. I would like to invite members of the public and corporate companies to support the ladies teams. Thanks once again to Mhlangatane Member of Parliament Madzala Mhlanga for supporting my team,” added Mathonsi.
Divas coach Sandile Vilakati was adamant of a victory despite Mathonsi’s threats. He said history would repeat itself as they had won 5-0 against their opponents in last season’s encounter.

“My team is ready for the game and I am bringing an injury-free full squad. We beat them in our last game and statistics are in our favour to record yet another win,” said Vilakati.
An interesting fixture for Saturday will see Royal Leopard face Mbekelweni at 1pm in the same venue, followed by Mbabane Swallows and Illovo at 3pm. The log leaders, Elangeni, will be looking for maximum points in their match against Kappa Ladies on Sunday.
