MBABANE – His name is ‘trending’ for the right reasons across the globe. That is teenage sensation Leon Manyisa. British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that the 18-year-old, who is currently a subject of a protest after being fielded against Malanti by Manzini Wanderers, has got on Real Madrid’s radar.

This is after they reportedly invited him to take part in trials. This is according to a Wednesday, November 13, 2019 report from BBC with the headline, ‘The Eswatini teenage footballer on Real Madrid’s radar.’

“He was spotted by one of Real Madrid’s scouts, who was on holiday in Eswatini,” reads the report in part.
The report was accompanied by footage of Manyisa training at a local pitch. In the video clip, the player expressed his delight on being given the chance to be assessed by the Spain football heavyweights.

“I got a call to go for trials at Real Madrid.

“I was so afraid to go to Real Madrid. It was a great achievement for me,” the player told the BBC.
The player, who is back home after a botched deal in Armenia, reportedly did his first trial in Madrid, but visa problems stopped him returning for a second trial. The date of the trials could not be immediately ascertained, as Vovovo Director Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe’s phone was unreachable when called yesterday. The last attempt was made at 6:20pm.

South Africa’s well known publication Soccer Laduma, on the other hand, also reported the same story about Manyisa yesterday.
“Africa could soon have another star playing in LaLiga after reports emerged that Real Madrid are keeping an eye on an Eswatini wonderkid.

“The 18-year-old took part in trials with the LaLiga giants last year, but saw a second trial scuppered due to visa issues,” reported Soccer Laduma with the caption, ‘Real Madrid keeping eye on Eswatini youngster.’

At the end of the Laduma online story there was a web poll asking the readers about the player’s chances of realising his dream of playing for ‘Los Blancos’, as Real Madrid are affectionately known.
