 MBABANE – Despite that Senegal were 2019 AFCON finalists; Papic is not scared of them.

The coach made these comments yesterday ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers match against the Terenge Lions of Senegal.
The game is slated for Mavuso Sports Centre on Sunday and kick-off time is 3pm.
“Firstly, I would like to applaud my players for a good display away. We played well but unfortunately we committed two goalkeeping blunders especially in the first and second goal. It could have been a different result altogether,” said Papic.

He also said fatigue took its toll on the players as they had to travel three nights without resting.
“We played well under the conditions despite that there were signs of fatigue among my players,” he added.

Asked on the Group I second qualifier game against Senegal, he said;
“Look, we are not scared of them at all, but our chances are very slim to make a miracle,” he said.
When asked if he would make new additions to the squad to face Senegal, as he pointed the challenges of long tiring trips, he said; “We are going to make one or two additions; otherwise I will use the same squad. I still believe in these players,” he said.

Meanwhile, some of the players said the result against Guinea-Bissau was not a true reflection of the game.
Wandile ‘Skosh’ Shabangu, who was on the starting line-up, confided in this publication that they did not have a good display in the first half.

“They capitalised on that we were still trying to adapt to the pitch which was not good enough as it was bumpy. They scored those two goals and in the second half we came back strong as we created a number of chances but we could not utilise them,” Shabangu said.

He also said they were hoping to get positive results against Senegal on Sunday.
Young Buffaloes’ Lindo Mkhonta, who also travelled with the national team, said they tried their best but were not lucky to win.

Coming third are Congo Brazzaville as they lost   0-2 to Senegal.
