OVER 90 IN 133RD PARKRUN
MBABANE – The 133rd edition of the Mbabane parkrun attracted 96 runners.
The weekly timed 5km run, which started and finished at Mbabane Club, was won by Sizwe Gama. He crossed the finish line in 20:31 minutes. Coming second was Sakhile Zwane in 20:45 minutes while Phiwokuhle Vilakati completed the top three bracket in 21:39 minutes. In the ladies category, Delsile Ngubane reigned supreme, finishing the race in 29:41 minutes while Marion Routti came second in this category in 29:47 minutes while Cheryl Amoroso came third on 31:01 minutes.
Information sourced from the Mbabane parkrun website, denotes that there were nine volunteers who made it possible for the race to happen. These are Samuel Atemba, Devin Bauermeister, Zethu Bhembe, Karen Cooper, Lean Drinkwater, Chris Morgan, Xolani Ngcamphalala, Neil Robinson and Kirsten Robinson. The male record holder for the weekly run is Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) Nkululeko Gama, who finished the race in a record time of 14:56 minutes on January 6, 2018. Swazi Slojos’ Gugu Mthembu is the female record holder on 20:02 minutes. She set this record in April 28, 2018.
